Welsey- My Happy Old English Sheepdog
Sew....here goes~
I would have never thought of starting a web shop-but, okay, just maybe...
I like to sew....no...I love to sew, but sewing was not always my dream job. Back in the day when all girls took Home Economics in high school, I was able to "weasel-out" and take a typing class instead. But thanks to my Mom, I was always enrolled in any and every city organized or recreation department type sewing class. Being one of five children, you see, my mother was probably just trying to keep me busy and involved. I don't really remember so much from the sewing classes-but I know now it was a foundation.
My first Christmas gift from my husband was a sewing machine...at the suggestion of guess who--Mom.
And, after the birth of our first child, again, it was my mother who insisted I take a smocking class.
Years have since passed and, I guess, as a friend recently told me, "...you might not have planned it, you might have backed into it, but you have a sewing business."
I enjoy working with "my decorators" as well as with individual clients and friends. But sometimes....I want to make something just because I want to, or just because I have an idea... I miss that creative part of my life - and I'm never going to have time to put everything else aside - so it might take a while to get going, but with the help of my super-talented husband, Bobby, and a few artistic friends, we are planning to put together an array of casual, cottage style furnishings and gifts along with a few of my favorite pieces of cotton clothing for ladies, children, and babies.
Thanks to all my teachers, friends who have become clients, and clients who have become friends, for your inspiration. Thanks to Grandmother Looke for taking time to help me plan, purchase fabric, and make my first skirt. Thanks to Aunt Susan for always having a true interest in my endeavors. Thanks to "Miss Rachel", "Miss Alice", "Miss Frances", "Miss Mary", "Miss Helen", Jane, and Rebecca for teaching me, inspiring me, and giving me lots and lots of work. And Mom...thanks for the foundation you probably never planned...you knew best!
